Dr. David Fawcett is a clinical social worker, certified sex therapist and health advocate in private practice in Fort Lauderdale. He specializes in working with the LGBT population, especially addiction, sexuality, and issues related to physical health. He is a nationally-recognized trainer on the treatment of methamphetamine and the fusion of meth and sex experienced by many gay men. He serves as Chair of the South Florida Methamphetamine Task Force, and on the Board of Governors of the Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse/United Way. He is a leader for a variety of community-based gay and lesbian health organizations including Meth and Men South Florida and the Southeast Regional Gay Men’s Health Summit. He is a member of the National Steering Committee for the National Gay Men’s HIV Awareness Day sponsored by the National Association of People with AIDS.

David lives in Oakland Park, Florida, with his partner Ed, their two dogs and a cat. He was raised in Ohio and lived in New York City for ten years before moving to Florida in 1986. He holds degrees in anthropology and worked as Registrar of the Museum of the American Indian (now Smithsonian), which took him to Europe, the People’s Republic of China, and all over the US, including field work with the Hopi Indians in Arizona. David’s work evolved toward addictions and mental health and he subsequently earned a Masters in Social Work and a PhD in Clinical Sexology. He was worked in a variety of mental health capacities, including directing inpatient and outpatient units and corporate clinical departments for national healthcare chains. He has been in private practice in Fort Lauderdale since 2000.
