* "Christian Coalition 2.0" Hits Florida - Ralph Reed, former head of the Christian Coalition, formalized plans last week to open an affiliate of his new Faith and Freedom Coalition in Florida. Great. Just waht we need in Florida- more fundie nutjobs...

* Florida Gay Basher Arrested, Charged with Hate Crime - One of two men who assaulted another man while shouting anti-gay epithets outside the Westend Package Bar in Newberry, Florida, near Gainesville, in early September, has been arrested and charged.

* Tampa weighs protections for transgender individuals - Tampa's Human Rights Board on Thursday asked the city council to consider extending the protections offered to other minorities to transgender groups.

- Orlando - Gay-rights pioneer Harvey Milk's nephew to lead Orlando pride parade - Stuart Milk will serve as grand marshal of "Orlando's Most Colorful Parade" at 3 p.m. and speak at the amphitheater rally at 5:30p.m. The parade, speeches, booths, music and dance are expected to attract up to 30,000 people.

- Pensacola - 4th Pride Pensacola celebrates diversity - Pride Pensacola is set to run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 10, with live entertainment, speakers, food, vendors and more.

- Gainesvile - About 4,500 attend local Gainesville Pride Parade
