There were protest rallies all over the country, and yet, in one of the gayest communities in the known world, Fort Lauderdale/Wilton Manors, silence. To be sure I wasn't missing something that was indeed scheduled, I contacted the editor of the South Florida Blade who confirmed my worst suspicions.
Here in Manhattan (photo below), a few thousand people got together without any organizational structure or funding, just the awake and alert responsiveness of folks who will not accept inequality.
Is there something in our South Florida drinking water that makes us vegetative?

As someone who has organized some of the rallies here in So Fla, I completely agree. What makes the community here so apathetic? It's mind boggling!!
