Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Agrees To Say No 2

Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, opposes Amendment 2. 
She joins more than 200 prominent leaders and organizations on Florida Red & Blue's Advisory Board against the so-called "Florida Marriage Protection Amendment."
In Florida, the term marriage is already defined as a relationship between a man and a woman. Amendment 2 will involve the government in our personal lives by dissolving locally recognized domestic partnerships, endangering the legal rights of unmarried couples, and weakening business responsibilities such as healthcare and retirement benefits.
Written in vague and undefined language, Amendment 2 could have dramatic consequences against Florida's committed adults who form domestic partnerships, including unmarried seniors, eliminating their ability to share important health care and pension benefits. Michigan's Supreme Court ruled last month that a similar amendment passed in 2004 prohibits public employers such as universities and cities from extending benefits to domestic partners.
"Amendment 2 is short but it could have far reaching effects, including taking healthcare away from children and other unintended consequences," Ros-Lehtinen said.
In opposing Amendment 2, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen joins other Florida leaders who oppose Amendment 2, including Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, six members of Congress, the League of Women Voters, the NAACP, Florida's Professional Firefighters and the Florida Education Association, among others.

Right? But to be fair, she is in one of the most liberal districts in the state...
